ENTER APPLE ID PASSWORD!!!!

my phone keeps asking me to enter an apple ID password for an email which is no longer in use, i updated my iCloud 2 years ago to my new email but over the last 24 hour every 5 seconds my phone wants me to enter the password for my apple id with the old email. when i do this it says that the ID is inactive (DUH) so why does it keep asking me!! its making my phone unbearable to use! I've tried everything, logging in and out of iCloud shutting down the phone, checking to make sure the old email isn't liked at all (its not). PLEASE HELP ME
